Anthropology Faculty taking part in Teach-In For Radical Hope

On December 3, 2016, members of the Department of Anthropology will be participating alongside the Georgetown Sanctuary Campus Movement in the Teach-In for Radical Hope: Sowing Seeds of Liberation/Taller de Esperanza Radical: Sembrando Semillas de Liberación. The Teach-In will run on Saturday from 9am to 5pm in White Gravenor on different themes such as Labor and Capitalism, Race, Ethnicity, and Identity, Interfaith Cooperation, Immigration Implications, Resistance through art, theater, and literature, and Implications for Queer and Trans Folks. The goal of the teach-in is to provide resources for activism and organizing as well as general knowledge.

Our mission is to have a teach-in that combines academic and practical elements to channel all the anti-Trump rage into a pro-Liberation rhetoric that moves people into action. The goal of the teach-in is to enhance each other’s knowledge together by sharing expertise on forms of action, organizing, articulating, expanding, promoting social movements and how we should move forward with the Trumpism and the complicit nature of bigotry embedded institutionally.

Sessions will include panels with Georgetown students, professors, DC activists and organizers and will be a conversation between all those attending rather than a lecture. Here’s the schedule of sessions:
