On January 13, 2018, Professor Gwendolyn Mikell was recognized by the Georgetown University African-American Advisory Board (GUAAAB) and was presented with their inaugural Distinguished Leader Award. The newly established award honors the achievements of a university administrator, faculty, or staff member; and highlights his/her commitment to the experiences of Georgetown University’s African-American community.
